Industrialization Of Japan 1858-1945 The Industrialization of Japan: 1858 - 1945 The economic developments that gave Japan courage to take on the United States in World War II began as early as 1858. From there, Japan had established an infrastructure that would take them on a quest of world domination. The Meiji regime gave rise to the fact that Japan was serious, and nobody was going to stop them. But, eventually this dream of world domination would come to an end, as they were finally tested in the battle of World War II. During the transition into an open economy, Japan' people prospered. Real wages had risen dramatically from 1846-1855, by 65% according to the lectures given by Myung Soo Cha on the growth and industrialization of Japan during the formative years before the Meiji Restoration. Given the fact all this growth was happening at an alarming rate, the year 1868 rang in the beginning of the Meiji Restoration. The Meiji Restoration wished not to deviate from the growth of the time, but rather set out to award their rogue nation with the institutions and economic organization of a modern state.
