Fredrick Douglas
Fredrick Douglas Through out history people have been treating blacks not as humans but as infidels, which cant distinguishes color as a face but utmost as a subject of work. Fredrick Douglass was a man, which wanted more than to be a slave but a freeman,. He wanted people to look at him as an individual, and take pride in who he is. He relates his power to his past and his owners, which had owned him. Slave’s “ masters “(or owners) looked at slaves only as help but not humans. Taking their dignity as well as their reason to live, through mental and physical harm. Theses slaves would overcome such anguish threw differ varieties and methods. A different view on slavery would have to be Robert Fogal and Stanley Engerman both historians who wrote the book “Time on the cross”. They state that the slaves did have a bad atmosphere, but not as bad as they tell it. They feel that the slaves, which aren’t slaves any more, expand and embellish their stories about their owners, to make it look they had it harder than they really did.
