Middlesex County Ct Middlesex County Ct County Assessment: Middlesex County, CT Middlesex County is located in the south central region of Connecticut, roughly at 41.4 degrees north and 72.5 degrees west. Fifteen towns are nestled in Middlesex County, Middlefield; Middletown; Cromwell; Durham; East Hampton; Portland; Haddam; East Haddam; Killingworth; Chester; Deep River; Clinton; Westbrook; Essex; and Old Saybrook. The county’s population is 143,196 people with 61,593 households. The largest city in the county is Middletown, located along the Connecticut River. The city’s location along the river allows easy access for trade as well as tourism. Middletown, the hub of Middlesex County, has easy access to major highways, airports, railroads and other sources of transportation The city's forty square miles include rural, suburban and urban settings, an historic downtown and large, city-owned parks and open spaces. Middletown is home to such major companies as Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Aetna Life & Casualty as well as Wesleyan University, Middlesex Community-Technical College, and Wilcox College of Nursing.
