Electoral College
Electoral College In view of the 2000 Presidential Election debacle I do feel that the Electoral College should be removed. There have been elections where the Electoral College has injured the election process and for the most part I do feel that the Electoral College is a device that is no longer needed today. The first form of government in America was based on the Articles of Confederation, which was adopted in 1777. In this government, the president’s job was mainly to preside over Congress. The politicians, seeing many flaws in their system, called a Convention in 1787 to revise the system. From this convention, a new Constitution was formed that established an executive branch of government like we have today. The founding fathers of the Constitution spent a long period of time arguing on how the president should be elected. Most of the founding fathers disagreed with allowing voters to have all the power because they were generally misinformed and easily mislead. Other drafters of the new Constitution found flaws in having the Legislature elect the president because the president would be under the control of the legislature and in turn, throw off the entire check electoral, college, system, constitution, vote, should, president, government, because, voting, voters, today, politics, part, one, longer, important, feel, election, believe, 2000, today’s, public, population, politicians, people, new, legislature, founding, flaws, fathers, executive, drafters, convention, care, candidate, branch, argue, year, world, wide, wayne, voter, view, very, unworthy, understanding, under, turn
