Pompeii
Pompeii Pompeii, the ancient city of Italy, a few miles south of Mount Vesuvius, instantly invites you into the past. Today, thousands of tourists travel far lands to catch a glimpse of time that captivates audiences worldwide. By AD 79, the Roman emperor Titus ruled this prosperous land. Because of it’s geographic convenience, Pompeii flourished in trade with Rome. Some of these goods included bread, perfume, wines, oil, fish and clothing. Two theaters were assembled, where gladiatorial combats were witnessed; along with a gymnasium and several temples. It was a beautiful city, indeed. However, in August AD 79, ash filled the sky. The people, unfortunately, were inferior and remained in their homes. At about 700 degrees Fahrenheit, ash and stones erupted into the city at nearly 70 mph. A massive volcano eruption buried the entire city.
