One Flew Over The Cookoos Nest One Flew Over The Cookoos Nest One flew over the cookoos nest This movie takes place in 1963 in a mental hospital. The main charater is Randle McMurphy. McMurphy is a middle aged man admitted to the mental hospital because his employers thought he had some kind of problem. Hes been arrested 5 times for assault and once for sagatory rape. The phsychatrits diagnosis was that he was faking having a mental illness to get out of jail. He has a cheerful personality. He tries to get to know everyone and make friends with everyone there. He doesnt give up and believes he can do anything. He changes a lot of things around. Before that all the patients wouldnt try to challenge the authority and do as they were told. It seemed as if the head nurse on his ward felt intimitated by McMurphy. She liked being in charge and would often do things to make sure that the patients didnt have their way. When they wanted to watch the world series the nurse was hesitant to let them. She finally agreed to let them watch the series if the majority of the ward voted for it.
