Michael Collins

One man led an unconventional army of fellow citizens in a Guerilla war, against an empire which controlled most of the world.  England was a super power at the turn of the twentieth century, but despite all of her power,  Ireland had always been its most troublesome colony.  For seven hundred years,  Ireland attempted to rid themselves of British rule, all rebellions and revolutions failed until it became Michael Collins’ cause.  For the first time in history, Ireland had started a battle that would change the nature of English rule, which had been imposed upon them, forever.  History would be read differently if it had not been the mastermind, Michael Collins, behind this rebellion.  His dedication, loyalty and conviction to his cause, are admirable to even those who disagree with it.  His refusal to use conventional methods that had proved to be worthless in the history of his country’s attempts at rebellion, is what made Ireland  what it is today.
