Ethics
Ethics America is a mixing pot of the different races of the world. It is a nation, which preaches tolerance and acceptance of all the cultures around the world. However one of the negative aspects is that many of the minority subcultures fall into the trap of minority stereotypes and setbacks. These hardships are shared by all of the minority cultures and serves as a binding mechanism which brings minorities together in a subculture all it’s own. Therefore you could find tighter bonds between subcultures such as African Americans and Asians, or Latinos and Italians than you could between the mainstream white America and one of these subcultures. Being included in this huge blanket of minority status gives comfort and rights in certain situations. In the movie “Do the Right Thing”, a Korean storeowner pleaded with an African American group not to riot in his store. By being bonded by a minority status the Korean man felt a right of protection and equality with a neighboring minority group. When being faced with a riot and severely damaged store the Korean man said that he was also black.
