It is hard to believe, as I live in a country that is so advanced, that the bulks of the world population are still living in conditions unimaginable to Americans.  The conditions are so far removed from our culture; many of the people are living in shelters that lack running water.  They have no conveniences of refrigeration, prepared foods or even supermarkets.  This is all due to the fact that countries that are in the condition are not industrialized.  The education is just a mere few years of schooling, the health conditions are chronic and few children reach adulthood.  Poverty has become horrific due to the over crowded populations.  A question that is asked by the author is “Will the economic development that has occurred in more prosperous nations soon be repeated elsewhere, as has happened already in a few countries including Korea and Taiwan?” (142) Another consideration about world industrialization is that it may have become impossible due to the environmental and resource limitations.
A term, which is often used in economics, is “modern economic growth”. This is a process where and economy is dominated by agricultural activities that are carried on with low
