	Oskar Schindler was born in 1908 in Svitavy in the Czech Republic. As he was growing older, he engaged in studying engineering, raced motorcycles and served in the Czech Army.  He did all this before he became a sales manager of electrical items.  Around 1937 the German government recruited him as a spy. He was to spy on Poland when he went on business trips there. 
	In 1939 Schindler moved to Kraków. He ran an enamelware factory there. His factory was the work place of many Jewish laborers. Because Schindler had the hook up with the German government, his Jewish workers were saved from having to go to concentration camps and ghettos. Therefore, many more Jewish people came to work for him. You could say his factory was the “Haven” for the Jewish. By the time 1940 rolled around the Nazis had ordered that all Jews in Kraków live in
