Bill Gates Fortune Ever since Bill Gates was a baby he was said to be fueled by competition. There wasn't anything that Bill Gates wanted to do, and couldn't. He would study harder, and practice until he was the best. That's probably why he's become one of the most powerful businessman of our time, and why Microsoft is one of the dominant forces in the computer business today. William Henry Gates III was born in Seattle, Washington on October 28 1995. He was described by his parents, Bill Gates Jr, and Mary (Maxwell) Gates, as an unusual and energetic child. When he was a baby he learned to rock his cradle by himself, and would be content to rock for hours and hours. As a child, and throughout his life, Gates was a very competitive person with an obsessive personality. Everything Bill Gates did, he did to the max, and excelled at everything that interested him. As a boy he was encouraged to join the Boy Scouts, and excelled at that as well.
