Saturn Is The Seconed Largest Planet In The Solar System SATURN Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system. It is the sixth planet from the Sun. Saturn was one of the most beautiful sites know to the Ancients. All Gas Giant planets that we know of have rings, but the rings on Saturn are more elaborate than any of the other planets. Galileo was the first person to actually see Saturn on a telescope in 1610. At first the planet confused him. Christian Huygens was the first person that correctly inferred the geometry of Saturn’s rings. In 1979, Pioneer 11 visited Saturn the first time. Later Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 visited it. In 2004, Cassini will arrive. The result of the rapid rotation and fluid state varies the diameter by 10%. It varies from 120,536 km in diameter to 108,728 km in diameter.
