Frank Lloyd Wright
Frank Lloyd Wright DNY Art Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) was one of the most influential architects of his time. He designed about 1000 structures and about 400 of them were built. I have been interested in Wright’s work the past couple of years and took architecture classes through out high school. Wright has always proved to be ahead of his time and is considered the greatest architect who has ever lived. The Guggenheim Museum stands out in NYC because of the roundness and the use of a dome. It is the eye catcher that rests on 89th street and 5th avenue. When I was walking down 5th avenue, my eyes were suddenly attracted to the white, round, seamless building. I knew it was the Guggenheim because of all the pictures that I had seen when researching it before I went. The Guggenheim finished construction in 1959 shortly after Wright passed away. The Guggenheim Museum as we know it today, started in 1943 when Wright was approached by Hilla Rebay, and asked to design it. She asked him to design something modern to blend well with the art pieces.
