Civil War
Civil War The American Civil War was a war fought within the United States of America between the North (Union) and the South (Confederacy) starting in 1861 and ending in 1865. This war was one of the most destructive events in American history, costing more than 600,000 lives. It was thought to be one that helped shape American citizens from then on. From the Southern point of view, this war was a War for Southern Independence. From the Northern point of view is was seen as a revolution. The Civil War started as a result of many years of differences between the North and South. Between the North and South there lay economic, social and political differences, but what tied all these together was slavery. From the economic stand point the South depended on agriculture rather than industrialization . The South was able to produce most of the worlds cotton which increased there need for the plantation system and there need for slaves. On the other hand the North was prospering industrially. The north depended on factories and other industrialized businesses. For this reason many of the immigrants settled in the north, and south, north, war, slavery, states, united, system, help, wanted, view, very, social, slaves, political, point, opposed, differences, depended, class, civil, both, between, american, work, westward, views, stand, southern, slave, power, points, own, one, need, nation, much, lives, land, industrially, industrialization, immigrants, high, helped, government, few, felt, factories, economic, each, competition
